With a serious social media following and website filled with yummy smoothie bowls and decadent raw treats, they have an eye for capturing divine dishes! - Tell us a little bit about yourself – who you are and what you do.
We’re Emma and Carla Papas, aka ‘Merrymaker Sisters’. In a (macadamia) nut shell… we help people live happier, healthier, more merrier lives.

- What was the ‘uh ha’ moment that inspired you to get in to health and wellbeing?
When we realised we’d been letting food and guilty feelings run our lives for over 10 years, we knew we had to make a change. Finding a real food lifestyle and adding our less stress is best approach was the change that well… changes our entire lives!
- Talk us through a typical day in your life…
We wake up at about 5.30am have our greens, magnesium and vitamin B supps! Then we head to yoga or pilates (seriously love pilates barre at the moment!), for exercise we always make sure it’s FUN, that’s our general ‘rule’ for life!
From there we go and grab a coffee from our fave cafe, BSKT on the gold coast (coconut flat white for us!).
Then it’s back to the office/AKA Merrymaker Land, we usually enjoy a smoothie, this one is our fave at the moment: http://themerrymakersisters.com/raspberry-ripe-smoothie-bowl/ we add pea protein for extra energy and yum factor!

Here's our all time fave smoothie recipe (at the moment anyway!)… ______________ STUFF YOU NEED 3 scoops NUBODY vanilla pea protein 2 cups coconut milk (carton) 1 cup ice 1 cup frozen strawberries 1 tbs. chia seeds TOPPINGS desiccated coconut sugar free choccy extra strawberries yoghurt NOW WHAT Chuck all the smoothie ingredients into your blender and whiz until nice and smooth. Then, depending what’s on our ‘list’ we might be working on our app, books, challenges, partnerships or creating epic recipes for our blog!
For lunch, if we’re not out and about, we’ll usually bake up some veggies at the start of the week and enjoy a big salad with avocado, tuna or chicken.
In the afternoon we’ll be sure to see the sun, or go for an ocean swim (actually, we’ve been trying to surf lately… key word… TRYING!).
If we’re still feeling inspired in the afternoon we’ll continue with some fun tasks, head to yoga or do a quick weights session!
When dinner time hits, it’s delish dinner time! Depending what we feel like, we might make something easy like our chicken zughetti or lamb meatballs. OR if it’s really hot (and it has been lately) we might enjoy another smoothie… we try not to do this… but sometimes it’s just too hot and sweaty!
- Coffee or tea?
Coffee! We love a good coconut milk flat white!
- What is your indulgence of choice?
We love celebrating with corn chips and cocktails! We have this amazing restaurant on the Gold Coast, called Bonita Bonita, it is our absolute FAVE!
- Three foods you can’t live without?
Avocado, 1 because it’s so darn delish, 2 it tastes amazebites, 3 it’s full of good fats and we just feel awesome from eating it and 4 it makes our smoothies extra creamy! Sweet potato: ahhh what a versatile food! We’re kind of (no we most definitely are) obsessed with making sweet potato chippies! Paired with a delish guacamole = heaven! Cacao – we guess we’ve listed our favourite ingredients! Cacao gives us good energy vibes and make things taste like chocolate (why wouldn’t you love it?!).
- What’s your go-to snack for those days on the run?
We love making spiced pumpkin seeds! We roast some up with macadamia oil, paprika, cinnamon, rosemary and salt! Tasty and oh so good for you.
- … And any last words of advice or tips for those starting out on their health journey?
Don’t be intimidated by the ‘no list’ concentrate on what you can eat and filling your plate with good stuff. 2. Try new food, recipes, websites, cook books, cooking styles and make the whole process fun and enjoyable. 3. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all when it comes to being healthy. Find what works for you and what makes you feel good!
