Dreaming of your next vacation? Why not make it a wellness escape!
I personally find health retreats can be so much more of an actual ‘holiday’ than any other option, more relaxing, rejuvenating and restoring. I think they are an incredible health investment.
Health retreats are places where you can fully disconnect from the chaos of the world and find your inner calm again.
On these retreats you tend to sleep well, eat well, rest & heal your nervous system and practice mindfulness which all enable you to arrive home feeling energised and ready for your busy life. This is what a holiday is meant to be, right!?
I am fortunate enough to have experienced some of the best health retreats around the world and wanted to share with you some of my favourites.
Set in the hinterland of Byron Bay, Gaia is nestled on 25 acres of breathtaking Bunjalung Country land. Founded in 2005 by Gregg Cave, Ruth Kalnin, Olivia Newtown-John and Warwick Evans, Gaia – meaning ‘spirit of Mother Earth’ – is poised on the highest point of the Byron shire. You can just feel nature hugging and healing you. Incredible food, yoga and spa!
A lifestyle retreat in Queensland – the perfect place to find your inner calm and ease everyday anxiety. A divine spa, all organic food, a great mix of yin and yang exercise classes throughout the day and lots of emphasis on rest and being in touch with nature.
I was so excited to discover a magical retreat just 45 minutes away from my home. Billabong Retreat is nestled above a billabong making it the ultimate place for a bit of relaxation in nature – a place for mind and body healing. I highly recommend this gorgeous spot, especially for Sydney siders. It’s quaint, serene, tropical and connects you to nature.
5-Star luxury just outside of Ubud in Bali. The best of the best – this place is one to put on your bucket list. The scenery, the grounds, the food and the yoga – on another level of amazing.

This is an amazing eco village with home grown veggie gardens everywhere you look. Found in Canggu, this place is a little magical. Highly experienced yoga teachers and great vegetarian food.

Kamalaya is a beautiful wellness retreat in Koh Samui. Along with a fresh-is-best, healthy eating philosophy, it offers a range of programs to suit travellers needs: fitness, detox, relaxation, and stress relief. At its core, it aims to help you reconnect with yourself and the world around you and leave you feeling refreshed, relaxed and more rejuvenated than you’ve ever felt. At least, that’s what it did for me!

The most heavily Italian villa you could ever imagine. Umbria La Bella Vita is actually an ancient castle turned villa and run by a darling couple – by the end we all felt like they were our adopted parents. They were authentic and passionate Italians who just know how to take care of people – and oh, do they know good food and wine! Not to mention, incredible yoga!
I have never ever felt so far removed from the real world – and that’s a good thing! At Aro Ha Wellness Retreat in New Zealand, you really are in the middle of nowhere. The serenity of the lake and mountains before you is so comforting and calming. They give an incredible sense of shelter and security. It’s truly like a postcard – I’ve never experienced scenery like this.
