How to restart your system after holiday indulging!

Many of us feel bloated, lethargic and un-motivated after the easter weekend – many of us tend to overeat during these festive times. Part of our culture and very hard to resist the temptations. If you follow my blog you know that I encourage eating/making healthy alternatives to our favourite unhealthy treats – they taste as good!! See my e-book for amazing sugar free desserts for your next holiday.

If you feel you went a little overboard this Easter/Pesach, here a 15 quick tips …
  1. Don’t judge yourself. Let go of the guilt. The guilt around food is worse for our health than the food itself. Forgive yourself. No one eats perfectly, even nutritionists.
  2. Drink lots of water with lemon – around 2l to flush your system
  3. Take a little 5-7 day break from caffeine, alcohol, wheat and dairy – or just pick 2 of those – see my restart plan for an effective body cleanse
  4. Eat smaller portions with each meal – don’t have seconds this week
  5. Exercise every morning – even just for 20-30 minutes – thats enough!! Don’t now put pressure on yourself to do too much because of your ‘binge’
  6. Go on a healthy shop – stock your fridge and pantry with healthy essentials to keep you on track
  7. Have a fresh green juice daily
  8. Drink lots of herbal tea – cut out alcohol, caffeine, dairy, wheat and sugar for 7-10 days
  9. Eat dinner earlier – 2 hour away from bed
  10. Enjoy apple cider vinegar before each meal. Place 1 tablespoon into water to fire digestive juices
  11. Use cleansing herbs and spices in cooking – garlic, turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper, parsley
  12. Use a dry body brush to encourage circulation and lymphatic drainage, which gets rid of cellulite and plumps up the skin
  13. Eat brassica veggies such as brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale – they contain an enzyme that supports liver detoxification
  14. Swap sugar/sweetner to stevia
  15. Take an Epsom salt bath – Epsom salts are made up of magnesium, which works to relax and soothe your muscles and also detoxifies the body
