Jess’ Kitchen Essentials

There is an old saying that moving house is one of the most stressful events in life. Over the last two-weeks, Dean and I have been in the process of moving our entire lives into our new home, beginning a new chapter just the two of us. Instead of stress and anxiety, I have been feeling nothing but energy and excitement!

Whether it was beginning my #JSHealthRestart  just before, or the anticipation of change– I have been feeling revitalised and eager at the prospect of a new beginning! When it came to creating my perfect kitchen, I made a list of my absolute kitchen essentials to ensure the healthiest and happiest kitchen I could image. This included…

  •  High power blender. I love my Vitamix and also use Hamilton beach commercial blender
  • Food processor/magimix- I use Kenwood
  • Vegetable Spiralizer – Zyliss/Gefu brand
  • Wooden chopping boards – for chopping all my veggies
  • Vegetable peeler- I peel all my fruit and veggies to minimise pesticides
  • Steamer- best way to prepare your veggies. Keeps the nutrients in! I just recently bought the Breville steamer for my new home.
  •  Juicer – I use the Breville brand. Its fabulous for your green juices
  • Non-stick pan (small and large)- for pan-frying
  • Non- stick Wok – for stir frying (I have a large one and use it often)
  • Good quality big and small knives
  • Medium sizes saucepan with a double steamer
  • Hand Blender/Stick blender- to puree foods and soups
  • Mixing spoon and bowls
  • Kettle – for all that herbal tea
  • Baking Dish
  •  Baking Tray
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Soup Pot
  •  Garlic chopper
  • Salad spinner – to wash lettuce
  • Whisk – to whisky my eggs (for baking too)
  • Spatulas
  • Grater – for grated apple, Parmesan cheese etc
  • Aligator Chopper (amazing to chop onions and julienne vegies)
  • Strainers – small ones for herbal tea and bigger ones for food

Extras:

  • Mortar and pestle
  • Muffin and bread tins
  • Food scale
  • Pressure cooker
  • Thermomix – for everything and anything. I don’t have one but heard its amazing.
  • Portable griller – I just bought this and love it
  • Tongs
  • Wooden spoons
  • Mason jars for your smoothies
  • Most of these appliances can be found at your local home ware and appliance store, however I found a great deal of mine at King of Knives Bondi!
