My Healthy Non-Negotiables

I am a firm believer in moderation – working hard but allowing plenty of time for rest. Healthy eating but with space for indulgences every once in a while. There are, however, certain things that I know my body needs to be functioning at its best and healthiest. It’s taken time for me to identify what makes my body (and soul) feel the best, but right now these are my healthy non-negotiables:

  • My warm lemon water each morning – it soothes and preps my digestive system for the day.
  • I drink 1-2 liters of filtered water each day.
  • My supplement regime – I take a good B-complex multivitamin, fish oil and probiotic every day.
  • No more than 1 coffee per day.
  • Yoga 2 times per week.
  • Greens every day – in my juices, salads, whatever. I find a way to get them in!
  • Movement – walking, running, Pilates, yoga – whatever I feel like (and whatever I have the time for). I also ensure I rest 2 days each week.
  • Check my emails only 2-3 times per day. I have to be strict with myself!
  • A gluten-free and sugar-free diet. I enjoy organic sources of dairy, but limited amounts.
  • Healthy homemade snacks prepared in advance for a healthy week.
  • 1 treat per week – a healthy or not-so-healthy indulgence. I firmly believe in the 80/20 approach  with food!
  • 1/2 hour of rest each day. I switch my phone into airplane mode.
  • My kitchen is usually closed after 8pm.
  • Phone and computer – off after 8pm.
  • A lavender bath a few times a week.
  • Legs up against the wall each night to calm my nervous system.
  • Time with my family, friends and lover. This keeps me healthy!
