Tell us a little about who you are and how you got here:
I got myself trapped in a vicious cycle of hating and hurting myself. I felt I had no control over my moods and I blamed everything and everyone but myself. I was deeply ashamed. My doctor taught me about using food as medicine. Imagine that! A GP prescribing nutrient rich food instead of a prescription. How lucky am !? This is at the top of my gratitude list every single day and now I tell anyone who will listen!
What is your favourite recipe when you need to feel truly nourished:
My Cleansing Tonic Juice
2 stalks celery
1 cup parsley
1 cup spinach
1 green apple
Juice all ingredients using your juicer. Stir well. Pour into cup. Chill in the fridge before serving.
Has health always been a priority?
I always thought that I was a fairly healthy person, but it wasn’t until I learnt what true health was all about that I realised how unhealthy I actually was, despite my best intentions! I’m constantly on a journey with my health. At the moment, I’m studying my Masters of Human Nutrition.
What is the most rewarding part of living The Healed Life?
The most rewarding part is being able to guide other women through their transformations. We’re all extremely powerful individuals and the feeling I get once a client finally realises their potential is amazing!
What is the number one piece of advice you would give to someone healing?
I find that once my clients do the inner work and learn to love and respect themselves, healthy choices come naturally. They understand that nutrition isn’t about restrictions; it’s about loving yourself enough to listen to your body and fuel it with what it needs. Most importantly, they understand that fitness isn’t punishment, it’s a blessing. Everything they do then comes from a place of love, rather than fear.
What would you say to your 16-year-old self?
Don’t take the pill! Please Emily! Trust me! Coming off the pill has been an absolute game-changer for me in terms of my mental health. I feel in control of my moods now, rather than being on a hormonal roller-coaster. I didn’t realise how the pill was affecting my body while I was on it, but as soon as I stopped taking it, the relief (mentally) was almost instant.
What is your favourite way to “switchoff”?
The beach! There’s a reason why we feel so refreshed after spending time at the beach. It’s because the water is highly charged with negative ions. Negative ions help relieve stress, increase immunity and enhance vitality. Unfortunately our bodies aren’t absorbing enough negative ions because we’re constantly surrounding by electronic devices, pollutants and environmental toxins which emit positive ions. This is one of the reasons why fatigue, mental health issues and immune disorders are so prevalent today. It’s more important than ever that we get out in nature.
What are you manifesting next?
I’ve just written my ebook, ‘Transform Your Life: Transform Your Plate’. It contains over 90 wholefood recipes with a step-by-step practical guide to transform your plate (and life!). I would love for it to be a published book one day!
