For all you artistic types (and don’t we all have a little artistry in us?!) I’m excited to introduce you to this bright, bold spirit. Sophie Wright is the actress and health coach behind Create a Wellness, encouraging young performers to embrace their health and wellness as essential tools for their craft. She’s also starring in Wicked! Though she juggles a lot, her focus on a healthy lifestyle to aid her passions inspires others to do the same.

Tell us a little about who you are and how you got here:
I am a performer currently in Wicked the musical as ensemble and Elphaba cover which I have been in for 2 years now. I am from Sydney Australia, and graduated from WAAPA (Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts) with a bachelor of Music Theatre. I have been performing most of my life and it has only been in the last few years that I have discovered how connected the mind and body can be especially in the performing industry. My website, Create A Wellness is all about helping young performers and creative types to add wellness and health in every aspect of their life, especially performing. I have video blogs, articles, recipes and online coaching.
Has health always been a priority?
I remember always being relatively healthy, but it was only since I fed my mind with more information about wellness, mindfulness and fueling your body with the right nutrients that I realised I could feel SO much better in every aspect of my life. Especially being a performer, dealing with knock backs, rejection and criticism in this industry can be very demanding, so to learn to have a positive mindset, and using skills such as meditation and healthy eating is absolutely essential.
What is the most bizarre thing you’ve tried – and ended up loving?
A good Greek yoghurt with a vegan protein powder, set in the freezer is something I thought wouldn’t work but is now my nightly ritual!
Do you have a daily mantra?
NOW is always the best time. Trust the process.
What is your favourite way to “switchoff”?
I love getting outside and going for a walk. I also love meditating and listening to some nice music.
What is the most empowering thing you do to love yourself?
I make sure I write a daily list of gratitude and self love list after my meditation. That way I know that I have done everything I can for myself to live a happy and grateful life, and to celebrate how good it is right now.
What are you manifesting next?
I am manifesting the next big show or film! I would love to continue my creative career in film and TV and continue my journey of acting and wellness. It is something that I am so passionate about and I hope that Create A Wellness can manifest into a bigger company to help more young performers and creative types to live a healthier and happier life.
