Which oils?

This is a confusing topic! 

 

The reason why we have to be careful about which oils we cook with is because each oil has it own smoke point- before it becomes rancid. What does rancid mean? When fats and oils break down they can release free radicals which cause stress and damage on a cellular level. We don’t want extra free radicals!

 

High Heat: (okay to cook with)

  • Coconut oil
  • Rice Bran oil
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Ghee
  • Organic butter
  • Sesame oil

Medium to low heat:

  • Olive oil 

Cold Oils: (use in your salads/smoothies)

  • Olive oil- ok to cook with at low heat!
  • Flax seed oil
  • Macadamia oil
  • Hemp seed oil
