5 Ways to Stay Motivated

I’m sure many of you angels have seen the new Movement section of the updated JSHealth App! Well, we’re all about fitness right now!

While I’m absolutely loving doing a different one of these workouts led by some of Australia’s top fitness trainers each day, I am the first to understand that motivation comes and goes! So I’ve decided to share with you my top five tips on how to stay motivated on your fitness and health journey!

1. Think of health as a forever lifestyle.

If you make healthy living and positive choices part of your daily routine, they become a habit – something you don’t even consciously need to think about! This makes it so much easier to stick to – instead of relying on motivation every day you simply act upon your instincts. Think about it – if you’re in the habit of waking up every morning, rolling straight out of bed and spending 20 minutes moving your body in a way that feels good, you’re much more likely to be able to continue this habit on an “off day”, where you’d rather spend an extra 20 minutes hitting snooze on your alarm!

2. One thing at a time.

Start small, angels, you don’t need to do it all, or be perfect to be healthy! Try adding one healthy activity into each day – whether that’s spending 20 minutes doing one of our App workouts, walking in nature, or eating an extra serving of greens! This is far more realistic than expecting yourself to be perfect! When you achieve these goals, you’ll feel more motivated to keep going and kicking down the milestones!

3. Don’t compare yourself to others!

Comparing your efforts to what your friends and family are doing is a bad idea! Remember, what they need is different to what you need! It’s important to listen to your own body when making food, fitness etc decisions. Only you know what makes YOU feel good, so focus on your unique body, and nourish it accordingly.

4. Be kind to yourself.

Let’s face it, no matter how disciplined you are, or how ingrained you are in the habit of living the healthy life, there will always be days you’re unmotivated, or struggling. Manage your expectations, don’t aim for perfection, just aim for the best you can do! Appreciate yourself for all the amazing things you can do! Remember, you don’t need to work out every single day, or master every yoga pose the first time you attempt it, or even eat healthily 100% of the time. Give yourself credit for your efforts, and the things you are achieving.

5. Believe in yourself.

Angels, you are all powerful, beautiful and capable of anything! If you believe in yourself, you will get there! Have confidence in yourself and your abilities, and it might take some practice and work, but you’ll do it! And if you fall down, or fail one day, get back up and try again. Believe in YOU!
