I truly believe that keeping a clean, vibrant home environment makes you more inclined to live a healthier life. Here are my top tips for refreshing your home and creating a space that makes you feel energised and excited.

 1. Get more natural light and fresh air

I believe that when a room is dark, it carries a low vibration and can drag us down into that frequency. Our overall mood plays a big part in the choices we make, so it’s important to think about ways to boost your mood first thing in the morning. As soon as you wake up, I recommend opening your blinds and doors to allow the fresh morning air stream through. And when you get home in the afternoon, open your doors to let more natural air flow through your home. You’ll be amazed at how this simple trick can make a space feel more open and energised.

2. Clean up your kitchen

Visual triggers play an integral role in a kitchen, so I love to keep my pantry and fridge stocked with fresh produce. I also like to keep flowers and fresh fruits on the kitchen benchtop because it inspires me to eat fresh, vibrant food. Preparation is also key. I always have a batch of bliss balls, raw nuts, carrot sticks and hummus, almond butter with dates, and dark chocolate ready to go when I need a nutritious snack or a healthy treat.

3. Create a space for healing

In times of stress, I love using my home as a retreat, or what I like to call my own wellness sanctuary. I love to roll out my yoga mat and practise some stretching, take a hot bath with Epsom salts and a few drops of essential oils, or read a book. Nature is incredibly healing, so if you have a garden or even a small balcony, use that space too.

4. Cultivate a night-time ritual

I’m very passionate about night-time rituals and I love to get my body ready for sleep by dimming the lights in the evening, lighting candles and applying lavender essential oil on my pillowcase.

5. Share your wellness goals

To live a healthy life, you need to share your health goals with your loved ones and set boundaries in the home. If you’re wanting to eat more nutritious meals, gently remind your loved ones that you’d appreciate their support. Communicating your goals helps to bring a sense of connectedness into your relationships, which filters throughout the home. One of my rules is to switch off emails and my phone by 8pm, but my husband is a workaholic and he likes to bring his laptop into the bedroom. I have to remind him that this can bring a lot of stress and chaos into the room and it’s time to rest. Simply put, healthy lifestyle boundaries help you live a truly healthy life.
