Yummy Sauce Alternative – Healthy Satay!

A good sauce can quickly and easily take a meal to the next level. Most store bought sauces are loading with sugar, processed salts and unhealthy additives and preservatives. There’s just no need for all that! Sauces are super easy to make and most will store well for regular use. Try this amazingly yum and healthy satay!


Healthy satay sauce – amazing to add on to chicken kebabs, tempeh or sautéed greens!


  • 1 tbsp Tamari
  • 2 tbsp. organic peanut butter, crunchy
  • 1 heaped tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fresh grated ginger – optional
  • 1 tbsp warm filtered water
  • Optional to add a handful of sliced scallions/spring onion slices and some chili flakes



Whisk the above ingredients together in a bowl and serve and enjoy!

    Hi Jess, I notice you talk about eliminating sugar however some of your recipes including this one contain honey (or maple syrup). I would welcome your thoughts.

    • Hi Mary! Jess doesn’t use refined sugar in her cooking and keeps sweetener alternatives to a minimum. That being said, she does use small amounts of honey or maple syrup at times – these have a lower GI and can very much be a part of the healthy life. Thanks!
