As someone who travels often, I deeply understand the significance of prioritising the wellbeing of our skin when on the go.

The demands of constantly navigating different time zones, climates and destinations require us to be proactive in caring for our skin’s health and radiance while travelling.

Whether you’re jet-setting across the globe for work or enjoying a wonderful getaway, below I’m sharing my personal insights to guide you towards finding your own travel-friendly routine that nourishes and supports both your complexion and wellbeing.

After all, your skin deserves the best, no matter where you roam!

My Travel-Ready Skincare Tips

Drink up: Our bodies need water! Keeping up with your water intake is essential at home and even more important while travelling. Dehydration can leave skin looking dull and tired. Always keep a bottle of water on hand during flights and refill it regularly.. Aim to drink at least 2 litres of filtered water daily. Be aware of your alcohol intake on the plane, as well – be sure to drink more water if you do choose to sip on a bubbly while in the skies. Additionally, you can enjoy replenishing herbal teas or lemon-infused water. And…my absolute essential is a quality marine collagen supplement, which can help to support skin hydration. Look for one from wild-caught fish that is hydrolysed for absorption.

Pack Smarter: When it comes to packing products, I always like to travel light and minimally. You can easily create your own personalised travel-friendly skincare kit using just a few of your favourite products that are specifically tailored towards meeting the needs of your individual complexion. Focus on including items that nourish, cleanse and hydrate such as natural oils, gentle toners or mists, moisturisers and face masks. If you’re going on a shorter trip, get some travel size containers and put just what you need out of your full size skincare into them for your getaway. Our 4-Step Vitamin Skincare System is the perfect size for stowing away during travel, ensuring your skincare essentials are always within reach.

Go Natural: With the skin being such a rapid absorber, thinking of skincare as ‘skin food’ helps to guide my choices. Simple ingredients such as organic face oils are brilliant for travelling as they can be used in multiple ways – as moisturiser, natural highlighter, a quick face mask, or even makeup remover! They’re also incredibly effective at sealing in moisture while acting as a protective barrier against harsh climates and conditions – perfect for both long haul flights and day to day use. I am obsessed with the Luminous Vitamin Oil

Protect Your Skin Against Pollution: Air travel can be very drying on the skin, making it more susceptible to external aggressors. To combat this, go for  skincare that is high in antioxidants, such as vitamin C and E.These work by protecting your skin from free radical environmental damage caused by pollution. If you’re travelling in a city, wearing a quality zinc-based SPF (30 or higher!) is also extremely important. Along with topical care, remember to nourish from the inside out. Pack travel-friendly supplements that provide antioxidant protection to support skin health.  At meals, be sure to load up on greens such as spinach, kale and broccoli, as they provide essential nutrients and fibre to contribute to a well-rounded and nutritious diet. Personally, I love to snack on healthy fats such as almonds and walnuts – delicious, and so wonderful for skin health! Antioxidant-rich foods like goji berries, chia seeds, blueberries and turmeric can also assist in boosting the skin’s radiance.

Unwind & Recharge: No matter how busy your travel schedule may be, it’s critical to make time for yourself and take moments of stillness. This could involve taking a warm shower or bath in the evening, doing some gentle stretching, journalling or even a quick gua sha session. I love using my gua sha beauty tool with the 4-Step Vitamin Skincare System, as it helps to soothe facial tension and send lymphatic drainage around the face. Our bodies can tend to hold on to more fluid on long haul flights. Winding down before bedtime is important for allowing our skin (and body) to reset each day.

Bonus Tip – Pack your sunnies: Don’t forget to pack an extra pair of sunglasses, as the sun can be particularly harsh in some climates. Sunglasses are a great way to protect your eyes and skin from UV rays and allow you to explore with ease (and style!) – a personal must-have.

Happy travels!
