JSHealth Sleepy Tonic

 

I adore this tonic – it is so soothing, nourishing and comforting… Everything your mind and body craves before bed. The warm almond milk is full of protein, good fats and tryptophan – an amino acid that promotes sleep. Nutmeg has a calming effect and cinnamon acts to control blood sugar, which helps you from waking up suddenly between 2-4am! Passionflower extract is a powerful herb used for calming anxiety and insomnia. Plus the stevia adds a lovely sweetness without spiking blood sugar levels – which can interrupt sleep. I drink this when my nervous system is overworked and my sleep is interrupted – I hope it helps you too xx

 

JSHealth Sleepy Tonic

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tsp passionflower herb or passionflower drops (http://au.iherb.com/Gaia-Herbs-Certified-Organic-Passionflower-Vine-1-fl-oz-30-ml/10543) – optional.
  • 3 vanilla stevia drops

Method: 

  1. Heat almond milk on stove until desired warmth.
  2. Stir in spices, passionflower and stevia.
  3. Sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top and pour into a mug.
