I had the pleasure of going to San Francisco this weekend to visit family – I always love the opportunity to spend time here. San Fran is incredibly diverse and has so many unique places to check out. It has a bit of European vibe, but a bohemian quality about it too. There is nowhere else quite like it!
These are my top San Francisco foodie spots:
For great breakfast/brunch:
Boulette’s Larder: Find this gem in the Ferry Building. They have a delicious wholegrain oatmeal!
Tartine Bakery in the Mission: treat yourself to an almond croissant and coffee. Because remember – JSHealth promotes indulgence with moderation!
Blue Barn on Chestnut: great salads!
Jane on Fillmore: in my opinion it’s got the best coffee, plus great breakfasts and salads. I love their quinoa toast with avocado, chia pudding or homemade granola for breakfast, and their healthy Chinese chicken salad for lunch.
For quality coffee:
Wrecking Ball on Union: specialty coffee and they make a great version of my beloved piccolo!
Blue Bottle: this lovely chain has locations in San Fran and LA featuring delicious – and responsibly sourced – coffee.
Jane: A great place to pop in for a great cup of coffee – whether you’re staying for food or not.
For lunch with a vibe: Bar Bocce. I loved their kale salad!
For a stellar wine bar: Cellar Door. Delish wine and small plates
For a place to work out:
THE HILLS! Just walking up and down the neighbourhoods will give you a work out. We were staying in Pac Heights where the hills are huge!
For a phenomenal dinner experience:
Delfina: great Italian food and wine.
Delarosa: their kale salad and brussels sprouts are a must! Great vibe.
Umami: some of the greatest sushi rolls – so fresh.
More fun things to do:
Visit Union Street – great shopping and cafes.
Bike ride across the city – we took bikes and rode them across the Golden Gate bridge into Sausalito. Just amazing!
The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: so much fun to wander through on a Saturday.
Check out the Mission area for a hipster kinda vibe – great cafes, bookstores and galleries.
Drive to Napa Valley for wine tasting!
